Jabeur on the podium, Cornet loses ten places

Winner of the Berlin tournament, Ons Jabeur is now world No. 3, behind the untouchable Iga Swiatek, and Anett Kontaveit. On the French side, the n°1 Alizé Cornet lost ten places and left the Top 40.

She was seventh at the beginning of the year, here she is now world number 3! Excellent since the start of the season, except at Roland-Garros where she was eliminated from the start, Ons Jabeur won her second title in 2022 (after Madrid), this Sunday in Berlin to the detriment of Belinda Bencic, and this allows her to climb on the podium of the WTA rankings. But everything is very tight, since there is only a 400 point difference between the world No. 2 and No. 6, and the ranking could be upset in the coming weeks. There is one who, on the other hand, does not have to worry, and it is Iga Swiatek. The world No. 1, who has decided not to play a grass tournament before Wimbledon, is more than 4,000 points ahead of her runner-up, Anett Kontaveit, who has not won a match for two months. In addition to the progression of Ons Jabeur, who overtook Paula Badosa, four other changes should be noted in the Top 10: Maria Sakkari overtook Aryna Sabalenka to find herself 5th and Danielle Collins overtook her compatriot Jessica Pegula to find herself 8th. Belinda Bencic, finalist in Berlin, remains 17th, while Beatriz Haddad Maia, who achieved the Nottingham-Birmingham double, gains three places and ranks 29th.

Parry climbs

On the French side, the n°1 Alizé Cornet lost the points of her semi-final last year in Berlin and therefore gives up ten places on Monday, to find herself 44th. Caroline Garcia (75th) and Clara Burel (94th) lost a place, but the good news of the week comes from Diane Parry. The 19-year-old continues her ascent, climbing five places to 77th, thanks to her semi-final at the WTA125 tournament in Gaiba, Italy.
