After Kielce’s narrow victory over Veszprém (35-37), FC Barcelona also qualified for the Champions League final by getting the better of Kiel (30-34) on the Cologne floor.

Six years later, Kielce is back in the Champions League final. Talant Dujshebaev’s players qualified at the expense of the team against which they won their only continental title in 2016, Veszprém. A meeting which began with a showdown with each of the two teams taking control but without having more than a goal in advance. However, Rasmus Lauge Schmidt (8 goals from 10 shots) and Kentin Mahé (1 goal from 4 shots) led a 3-0 to allow Veszprém to take a small advantage, on which they could count until the break, achieved two steps ahead. However, on returning from the locker room, Kielce took matters into his own hands. Arkadiusz Moryto (8 goals on 8 shots) put the Hungarian defense in difficulty and contributed to a 3-0 which allowed the Polish club to come back in front. Since then, Kielce saw their lead oscillate between two and four goals until the final whistle for a victory of two lengths (35-37).

FC Barcelona clings to its title

For the title, Kielce will have to challenge the defending champion, FC Barcelona. The Catalans, in a remake of the 2020 final, got their revenge on Kiel. Under the impetus of Niclas Ekberg (3 goals on 8 shots), it was the Germans who took the lead during the first quarter of an hour but the two teams went blow for blow and the gap did not never exceeded a goal. A trend that was confirmed in the next quarter of an hour, but it was Barça who then made the game. Aleix Gomez (12 goals from 13 shots) and Dika Mem (4 goals from 6 shots) once thought of giving the Blaugrana a two-goal lead at the break but Patrick Wiencek (7 goals from 9 shots) responded to bring THW back at one length. From the start of the second act, the Catalans raised their voices to take three then four and even five goals in advance fifteen minutes from the end of the match. Dropping off at the end of the match, FC Barcelona won by four units (30-34) and can dream of an eleventh continental crown.
