Karim Benzema (4/10)
Obviously tired by his interminable season, the future Ballon d’Or 2022 did not have much impact on the meeting. Deschamps asked him to stay in the lead and he only dropped out in the 28th minute. In the second half, he failed to materialize two opportunities, especially after forcing his way through a forest of Croatian players (53rd). It even ends with an ill-adjusted shift for Griezmann (90th + 2).
Mike Maignan (5.5)
Very close to taking out the penalty from Modric (5th), he then saved his team by pushing Budimir twice on the same action (16th). He returns a strike from Majer in the second half (72nd). Reliable, as always.
Jules Kounde (4)
Deschamps again put him in difficulty by aligning him on the right side, as against Portugal and Bosnia in 2021. The Blues being behind, the central defender of Seville did not manage to be useful offensively by taking the right wing (Nkunku playing inside). An incomprehensible choice on the part of the technical staff. Out at halftime.
Benjamin Pavard (4)
Entered in the second half to occupy the position of right side, he quickly failed. He offers a huge opportunity to the Croats (57th) and receives a warning after losing the ball (62nd). He tried to make up for it with a few calls, but it wasn’t enough.
Ibrahima Konate (5)
He unfortunately caused the penalty transformed by Modric from the start (5th), before being solid in the duels, with good interventions. Two tenures that did not really allow him to show his power.
Presnel Kimpembe (5)
The vice-captain had very few duels to play, with Budimir making his calls behind Konaté’s back. He had only one intervention or two to make in the second half.
Lucas Digne (4)
He took his lane but did not try to overflow. He should have been more aggressive. His centers were too predictable. Two strikes before halftime. He could have obtained a penalty but the referee decided otherwise (67th).
Matteo Guendouzi (4)
We are far from OM’s Guendouzi, who takes his team with him through his activity and his behavior. He was of little influence in the game as a right torchbearer. On recovery, he made an impact and received a warning after a somewhat rough duel (18th).
Boubacar Kamara (5.5)
After his very good second half against Austria, 3 days earlier, the new Aston Villa player was less inspired and precise in the recovery and in his openings. However, he had a real impact on recovery, but was replaced at half-time by Tchouaméni.
Aurelien Tchouameni (5.5)
Launched on returning from the locker room, the new Real Madrid player brought dynamism from the start. He behaved like a boss but did not find the solution. Defensively, he made a great comeback on the opportunity “given” by Pavard (57th).
Adrian Rabiot (5)
Not very influential as a left runner in the first period, he became a left midfielder in the second period and, as in Vienna last Friday, spent himself well. No real impact.
Christopher Nkunku (5.5)
To the right of a 4-3-3 then a 4-4-2, he had two opportunities in the first period (28th and 45th + 1) and was especially hard-hitting after returning from the locker room. He notably launches Mbappé on goal (61st), before going out in the 72nd. Griezmann did much less well in the same area.
Kylian Mbappe (5.5)
Back in the starting lineup, even if a little reduced, the tricolor prodigy tried a lot with the ball in the first period, then a few times in the second period (passing in front of Benzema in a 4-4-2). At the finish, he tried his luck from afar (6th) and came up against the opposing goalkeeper (61st).
