Tampa Bay came back to 2-2 against the New York Rangers in the NHL Eastern Conference Finals, thanks to a 4-1 victory at home. Frenchman Pierre-Edouard Bellemare notably delivered a decisive pass.
While Colorado quietly qualified for its third Stanley Cup final on Monday by “sweeping” Edmonton in the Western Conference final, the fight is raging in the East! Tampa Bay, two-time defending NHL champions and fifth in the regular season, tied the fourth-place New York Rangers 2-2 in a 4-1 victory over Florida. So far, every home team has won this series, and the Lightning carried on the tradition, with this new success in front of 19,092 fans. There was not really any suspense in this meeting. Tampa Bay won the first two periods 1-0, with a goal from Maroon (3rd) on a pass from Frenchman Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, then a goal from Kucherov (34th). Stamkos, in the 45th minute, added to the score, and Panarin’s goal less than four minutes from time for Rangers turned out to be anecdotal (3-1), especially as Palat sealed the Florida victory in scoring in the empty goal nine seconds from the final buzzer. Russian goaltenders Vasilevskiy and Shesterkin finish with 33 saves for Tampa Bay and 26 for New York, respectively.

Game 5 Thursday at Madison Square Garden
“I don’t care if the Lightning are better from game to game,” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. I hope the home team will continue to win all the time. This is how it draws. We were very good in our rink and they were very good in theirs. New York has home-court advantage in this series and has two more games at Madison Square Garden to go. Next Thursday, and Rangers have every interest in being intractable in front of their fans.
