Victorious for the second time in her young career at Roland-Garros, Poland’s Iga Swiatek sees her lead in the WTA rankings increase even further, while Cori Gauff is getting closer to the top 10.

At just 21 years old, Iga Swiatek could well reign supreme on the women’s circuit in the coming years. While she remains on an impressive series of 35 straight victories in 2022, the Pole won her second Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros on Saturday, after that obtained in 2020. As a result, this Monday, in the WTA rankings, the native of Warsaw logically remains in the lead but above all sees her lead considerably increase over her competitors. With currently 8,631 points on the clock, the interested party now has almost double that of her runner-up the Estonian Anett Kontaveit (4,326). Between her success in Paris and the elimination of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (formerly world number 2) in the 1st round, who now finds herself outside the top 10 (14th, -12 places), Swiatek has a real boulevard ahead of her.

Gauff at the gates of the top 10

Note that it is the Spaniard Paula Badosa who completes this podium, notably ahead of the Tunisian Ons Jabbeur and the Greek Maria Sakkari. Finalist on the clay courts of Porte d’Auteuil, the American Cori Gauff is getting closer to the top 10 (13th, +10). Also note the good progress of Jessica Pegula (8th, +3) and semi-finalists Daria Kasatkina (12th, +8) and Martina Trevisan (27th, +32). As far as the French women are concerned, Alizé Cornet is getting closer to the top 30 (33rd, +7), while Caroline Garcia gains four places (75th) and Diane Parry settles a little further into the top 100 (82nd, + 15). Conversely, already out of the latter, Kristina Mladenovic (119th, -12) and Harmony Tan (121st, -15) are back. Finally, Léolia Jeanjean, the nice surprise of Les Bleues in Paris, climbs 78 ranks to find herself 149th in the world! Here she is just over 120 points from the top 100.
