A return announced at Eicma 2021 and much awaited by fans of the golden wing brand: Honda Hornet. The Japanese house unveils a series of images that illustrate the design of the new and always loved Japanese naked, revealing extremely modern, sharp and aggressive lines capable of combining beauty and mechanics. The sketches were made by the Honda R&D department in Rome, already authors of the design of some of the most successful models such as the CRF1100L Africa Twin, the CB650R and the off-road scooter X ‑ Adv in collaboration with the Japanese colleagues of the same department.
Honda Hornet: the concept
It was the pencil of the young Giovanni Dovis who conceived the design of the Hornet Concept. The 28-year-old, who recently signed the lines of the new Honda Adv 350 crossover scooter, commented: “Honda’s design philosophy aims to create something pure and functional in the simplest way possible, a philosophy that is reflected in the creation of exciting models. and “genuine” beauty. The sketches show how the Hornet Concept’s design is based on the values of agility, dynamism and lightness, thanks to the compact and elegant proportions, the pointed tail and the sharp lines. The result is a bike with a taut look and aggressive that underlines his sporting attitude, which has always been in the DNA of all Hornet generations “.
Honda Hornet: what we know
Together with the legendary Honda Transalp, the new Hornet would mark a return to the legacy of the great builder of the Rising Sun. One of the hypotheses would see the Hornet derive from the same technical base as what will be the new crossover. Always according to suppositions, the new Hornet could abandon the 4-cylinder in-line engine for a leaner engine, a parallel twin, perhaps with a displacement between 700 and 800 cc. Always remaining “in the aura” of suppositions, the naked could adopt an upside-down front fork, a braking system with radial attachment front calipers and a banana double-sided rear swingarm. The production and sales times have not yet been disclosed, but there are rumors that it could arrive by the end of 2022, perhaps in Eicma itself? We just have to wait confidently.
