Interview
Hello Harrison – tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello! My name is Harrison Holland I am a left foot/ right striker. I am fast strong and powerful. I started my men’s football at 16 at Boston Town scoring over 10 goals for them in a 2 year spell with 25 appearances.
What type of striker are you ? Are you quick? Tall? A good passer? A goalscorer?
I am quite fast. I’m strong. I hold the ball up well, great team player and got a great pass.
Who is the player, or players, you looked up to most, and why ?
When I grew up I idolised Lee Hughes he was lethal Infront of goal and scored plenty of goals. He wasn’t the quickest but he worked hard proved the haters wrong and is a Notts county legend.
Could you tell us about your experience at youth football by Boston ?
It started off very poorly with the gaffer not liking me despite me bagging 4 times out of 289 minutes ALL season! The second season was so much better. New manager new chance. I scored 11 goals in 10 games before Xmas. Then second half of the season had a slight injury which knocked me back. Eventually I came back and scored 3 goals in 4 games.
It was a great experience for me mentally and physically.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever experienced in a match?
I was playing for Boston Town in the league cup. We was 1-0 down in the 87th minute. I was on the bench. The gaffer called me up and said. “Son you’re young and inexperienced but you’re good enough. I’m telling you you’re going to win this game for us.” I came on with next to no time left and I received the ball on the left wing, played it to the centre forward he slotted me in down the by-line I saw the keeper off his line and drilled it near post to squeeze it in to equalise! 1-1 it ended straight to penalties. They missed their last Penalty so it was down to me to score to send us through. I placed the ball down stuck to my usual place and smashed it home. We got through!! What a moment.
Who is your best friend in the Boston United squad? And why ?
I’d say my mate harry. He’s my gym buddy, my leader and motivator. He’s always spurring me on to get the best out of me. And visa versa.
What is the best thing about playing for Boston United FC ?
It’s a great club with great opportunity and playing there at a young age leaves me in the shop window so I can progress in the footballing world.
What are your personal goals for the upcoming season? And why ?
Get to my fittest ever state. Score minimum 15 goals. Score minimum 3 headed goals(that’s my weakness)
And Harrison, what is your ultimate dream in your football career ?
My ultimate dream is to make a living out of football! That’s all I want to do. Make it. Earn respect and Get loads of appearances then later on in my career funnel that down to the next generation.
