Interview

Introduce yourself… (Who are you ?)

I’m Ollie Tanner and I play for Bromley FC. I am a midfielder but can also play wide. My favourite position would have to be attacking midfield in the hole.

Who are the most important people within football environment?

Probably a coach at Bromley called Danny Mills as he helped me develop as a player and supported me through a good and bad times.

Who was the player, or players, you looked up to most growing up, and why?

The players I looked up to when I was younger were David Silva and Aaron Ramsey. I really liked the way they played and I tried to take but from each of their game and add it into mine.

How did you get into the youth of Arsenal FC ? And who helped you the most? Explain your answer.

I was playing for Charlton before i was at Arsenal and one day we played Arsenal. I had got home and my dad had got a call from Arsenal saying they wanted to sign me so I did.

Now you are playing for Bromley FC. Did you noticed a lot of difference between the youth of Arsenal FC and Bromley FC ?

Yes 100%. Academy football is completely different to non-league. Academy’s teach you how to play nice looking football but distracts you from the other side you really need and I realised that when I came to Bromley.

In Augustus 2019, you was named on the bench in the National League for the first time against Maidenhead United. How important was that moment for you ?

That was massive for me because I’d been to games and not been in the squad but when i was named in the squad I was very happy.

What were your highs and lows during your football career?

Coming out of arsenal was probably my lowest moment of football as I was young and didn’t see it as a chance to move on in a positive direction. My best moment in football, is making my league debut for Bromley.

Ollie, how do you balance your football and your day job?

I don’t find it hard to balance my day as we finish training early afternoon and then I would make my way over to the gym for an hour or so. After gym I have time to do what I need to do.

What is your ultimate dream for your football career ?

My dream in football is to play in the premier league as soon as I can.
