Tell us little about yourself…
I’d like to think I’m an all-round midfielder as I’ve got a good first touch, wide range of passing, improving at driving with the ball and I don’t mind the dirty side, for example running, heading, tackling.
How important is football for you?
Massive, it’s all I’ve ever really known & gives me a purpose every day.
Who are the most important people within football environment?
Within a football environment , I’d say everyone at the club you’re at as you all want to achieve the same goal.
How did you get into the youth of Wrexham AFC ? And who helped you the most?
I was at Accrington Stanley around U12s and a Wrexham scout spoke with my parents and it was a lot closer to home and they had a very good youth system. My dad helped me the most he’s travelled everywhere with me to football.
In 2018, you began your senior career at Wrexham AFC. Did you noticed a lot of difference between your youth academies and senior career ?
A big difference, more ruthless as every game only 3 points matter, also the physicality and experience.
Between Augustus 2019 and January 2020, you was loaned out to Airbus UK Broughton FC. How did you experience these periods?
I believe it helped my game massively and made me more all-round as a player, also the mental side of it helped me develop.
You’ve been involved with the national team of Wales, what are your ambitions at international level?
I was in the side at U17 level I haven’t made the U19 squad, so it is to get back in that side.
What were your highs and lows during your football career?
Highs were being told I was being offered a pro contract and that I was going to make my full debut on the Friday before Saturdays game & the feeling after winning the game v Harrogate, lows probably going on loan to start with as I was desperate to break straight into the first team.
Matthew, what are your personal goals for the rest of this season?
To be offered another contract.
What is your ultimate dream for your football career ?
Play as high a level as I possibly can and have a long career.
