Introduce yourself…
My name is Neve Herron , I am 16 years old from Sunderland and currently playing for Sunderland Ladies.
Why and where did you start playing football?
I began my football journey at a local sports camp which was ran by Gary Bennet (Ex Sunderland player) after attending for a while he was very encouraging to get me into a team. My first club I joined was Boldon CA Girls.
Who are the most important people within football environment?
The most important people within the football environment I believe is your family and friends, without the support of my family I would not be where I am today , they have been up and down the country to support me on the side-line.
What are your specific qualities as a defender?
I feel that my best qualities as a defender is my passing ability , I also feel that been able to get forward as a wing back also helps as it challenges the oppositions defence.
How important is it for you, that women’s football is now more popular?
It is so important for me individually that’s women’s footballer is more important as it is great to see that I can make a career out of something I love , it makes me extremely excited to see the future some of the younger generates after us can also gain out of football , it is so nice to see not only girls but boys also turning up to watch women’s football now.
Neve, what is the most important football lesson you have learned and who taught you that?
The most important football lesson I have learnt has came from all of the support around me , it’s to continue to enjoy playing football to make sure I can be the best I can be doing something I love.
On this moment you played for Sunderland AFC Women. How did you experienced this moment ?
It’s such a dream to be playing for Sunderland Ladies as it’s a club I’ve supported since being young , I am extremely grateful for the opportunity the club gives with young players and I continue to look forward to training and game days each week.
What is your ultimate dream in your football career ?
My ultimate dream in football would be to make it professional and repressing my country in the Euros and world cups.
Neve, what are your personal goals for the rest of this season?
My personal goals for the rest of the season is to continue to contribute as much as I can to club getting promoted. It’s a wish for all the players and staff but with hard work , dedication and commitment I am confident we can do it.
