Interview
Introduce yourself…
My Name is Cameron Holliday and I play for Darlington football club and when I was younger I was at Sunderland academy and more recently I was a scholar at Hartlepool United and was with Carlisle United development team.
How important is football for you?
Football is extremely important to me because if I’m not playing or if I’m injured it changes my mood dramatically!
What makes you a good defender?
I think that my pace makes me a good defender so I can cover my team mates when needed and I can use it to my advantage on a counter attack.
What is your best moment in your football career?
My best career highlight so far was probably playing against Liverpool youth team in the FA youth cup against players like Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster who now I can say I played against players who have played in the Premier League!
Who are the most important people within football environment?
The most important people in football are the fans for sure; they are the ones who keep football ticking especially when a club like mine is fan owned.
How do you prepare for an (important) competition? (music, rituals, etc.)
Before a game I will listen to 2000s rap songs and I have to be the first one ready in the changing room otherwise I’m on edge before I go out to play!
You are playing at Darlington FC. Why did you choose for Darlington FC?
Well I choose Darlington because there my home town team and I have always wanted to play for them!
Who is your biggest inspiration?
It’s a bit cheesy but My biggest inspiration would be my dad as he has always pushed me to be a footballer and made sure that I never gave up on my dream.
What are your personal goals this season?
My goal for this year is just to make a few appearances and keep improving in training every day because we can always improve!
What’s your ultimate dream?
Finally , my dream goal is to obviously play as high as possible in the footballing pyramid.
