Interview

Introduce yourself…

I’m Danny Eccles and I’m a goalkeeper currently playing for Chorley FC who play in the national league.

How important is football for you?

Football is everything to me, I’ve always been really passionate about it since I was very young! In the few weeks off in the off season I really miss playing!

Why have you chosen to go goalkeeping?

I choose to be a goalkeeper from a young age because I tried it once and I was good at it so the manger always played me there.

What is your best moment in your football career?

I’ve got a few best moments – one was being apart of Carlisle unites first team squad and having my name on the back of my shirt and being on Fifa as I’d of always dreamt of that from when I was a child. Best moment has to be securing promotion to the national league with Chorley.

How do you optimally prepare for an (important) competition? (music, rituals, etc.)

I always eat pasta before a game and that’s a bit of a ritual and I like listening to music before a game, especially drake and Chris brown.

In the youth did you play football for Carlisle United. How was your time there?

Yes played for Carlisle and enjoyed my time there and learned a lot whilst I was there and was good experience being a part of the first team squad.

After Carlisle United, have you played football for several clubs. At which football club did you learn the most?

I’ve probably learned the most at Chorley as I feel really sharp at the minute and the other goalkeeper (Matt Urwin) has taught me a lot.

Since August 1, 2018, you play at Chorley FC. Why did you choose for Chorley FC?

I chose Chorley as it’s a good club and I liked the manager, I also knew a few of the lads there and they spoke highly about the professionalism of the club.

Chorley FC is a wonderful club. What is the best thing about Chorley FC?

The best thing about Chorley is the togetherness of the team and club as a whole! All the lads get on really well and it’s the best team spirit I have ever had at all of my clubs and that’s why we do so well!

What are your personal goals this season?

I want to kick on this season and play well when I get the chance and challenge in the league.

What is your objective?

My objective is to continue enjoying football as much as I can and Improve as much as I can! I’m also undertaking a degree in sport and physical education alongside football at the minute!
